Expansion

The expansion of Polaria is finally underway!

A brand new extension will be added at the back of the building, towards Tromsøsundet. This is where our seals will move, into a brand new seal pool that holds 1 million liters of water - three times as much as the current seal pool. Here they will have plenty of natural daylight through large windows to both east and west, and they can even swim out onto their own balcony where they can lie down and enjoy the weather.

The area around the seal pool will include an amphitheatre where everyone will be able to watch the seal feedings. There will be an elevated amphitheatre on the south side of the room, and it will be possible to view the seal pool from the brand new classroom. Guests will also be able to step out onto a balcony on the east side of the building.

Polaria will remain open as normal throughout the construction period.
