How do we get there?

Polaria is about 5 minutes' walk from the Tourist Information Office, and you can take a nice walk along the quay. It is also possible to drive and park in the (paid) car park in front of the building. You can also take a bus from the city centre. Routes 33, 40 and 42 stop near Polaria .

Do you have parking spaces?

There is a parking lot next to Polaria, with parking meter. This parking lot does not belong Polaria.

Do you have caravan parking?

You can park your caravan temporarily in the car park next to Polaria, but we do not have our own caravan parking.

Can Polaria sponsor entry tickets or prizes for lotteries, etc.?

We receive daily requests for gifts and prizes for various teams and associations. The foundation Polaria has a few selected partners we work with on such. There is, for example, Tromsø municipality (the Experience Card which gives all opportunities to participate in cultural and leisure activities, on equal terms), the Salvation Army in Tromsø and the children's department at UNN with free entry.

For the same reason, we do not hand out gifts and tickets for individual requests.

Do you have an internship/can I work with you during the PRYO week?

We want to give our trainees and PRYO students a useful and educational period with us, and unfortunately we do not have the capacity to take in any students right now, as Polaria is in a development phase where we have a lot to do and little staffing.

Can I pay with euros?

No. We only accept Norwegian kroner in cash. It is possible to pay by card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, etc.)

Do you have discounts for disabled people?

Yes, disabled people get the same discount as seniors if they can present of a valid disability certificate.

Can I use a Companion Card?

Yes, a Companion enters free of charge when presenting a valid Companion Card. Those who are being accompanied pay an senior ticket if they are over 18, and a child ticket if they are under.

Are the premises wheelchair accessible?

Yes, it is possible to use a wheelchair inside Polaria. In addition to wheelchair-friendly ramps around the building, we also have a lift in the aquarium to get up to the seal pool. We have one wheelchair available for hire.

Do you have wheelchairs?

We have one wheelchair available for guests.

Can you bring a dog Polaria ?

Unfortunately, due to the risk of infection, it is not allowed to bring dogs or other pets inside Polaria . We also do not have dog boarding or dog storage available. This does not apply to guide dogs.

Can you bring a guide dog to Polaria?

Yes, if necessary, a guide dog is allowed at Polaria. You must be able to show valid proof of it being a guide dog. It is important to take into account that there are a number of smells and sounds here that are not common in other environments.

Can you buy food at Polaria ?
Yes, we sell baked goods from Kaffebønna, as well as coffee, tea, soft drinks, ice cream and light snacks at our reception. There is seating in the foyer and on the floor above the gift shop.

Can I bring a baby carriage?

Yes, it is possible to walk around Polaria with baby carriage. We have a lift in the aquarium to get up to the seal pool.

Do you have a room for breastfeeding?

We do not have a separate room intended for breastfeeding, but it is possible to sit and breastfeed in our cafe.

Can children go alone at Polaria ?

We recommend that all children under the age of 12 are accompanied by an adult when they visit us.

If you have forgotten something, you can call reception (tel. +47 777 50 100) or come by when we are open.

There is free WIFI on Polaria ?

Yes, ask the reception staff for the network and password.

Do you have storage boxes?

We have an open wardrobe, as well as a couple of cupboards where it is possible to leave bags/suitcases.

Is it allowed to smoke at Polaria ?

No. We wish for Polaria to be a smoke-free environment, and ask that this is respected by all our guests. This also applies to our outdoor area.

Do you have a Global Blue Tax refund?
Yes, if you purchase souvenir products in our store for a minimum of NOK 315. Note: This does not apply when purchasing entry ticket(s), food items, and books.
